Using Strategy To Create Value

I was reading a long-winded, fancy-worded article @ ConsultingMag.com that offered a unique insight.

Develop a strategy to help deliver products and services to customers that is consistent with the values of the company.

Upon reflection, I realized there are two groups of people to consider here, the employees of the company and ultimately, our customers.  The nature of my business is to help my clients achieve the goals of their projects.  Each of my clients’ project has one end in mind, to create value for their customers.

The author of this article brought up an interesting question.

Are we clear about our strategy and how we create value today and how we will do so tomorrow?

The author targeted readers who were consultants that help solved internal problems related to the “strategy, organization structure and culture” of their clients (better known as companies).

Part of your company’s strategy is to create value for your customers which will eventually translate into customer loyalty.  Value is a mysterious thing.  Value is the answer to your customer’s question, “What is your product or service worth to me?”

To a large extent, that “value” answer includes the “unseen” company behind the products and/or services.  The products and services your customer purchases should come with the confidence of knowing your company can resolve any issues relating to their purchases.

In order to create a competitive advantage, developing your strategy will require long-term thinking and planning that allows you to arrives at a solution that is greater than the sum of the various parts of your organization’s products and services which is the “value”.

A solution or “value” that exists today and will be there tomorrow for your customers.

I am interested in hearing your thoughts regarding this topic.  Do you have an issue with your strategy?  Is your current strategy working?  If not, how are you fixing that problem?

Thank you,

Mark
